Length about 5 mm. This is a dark brown rove beetle with yellow/orange legs. Found in dung heaps, grass cuttings, flood refuse etc.

Tachyporus Hypnorum
This small (3 or 4 mm long) rove beetle, black with dark red wing cases and a yellow margin to its thorax is another species which is shaped like a teardrop travelling blunt end first.

Rove Beetle Tachyporus solutus
A small rove beetle of 3 to 4 mm. It has a black head and tail, but the pronotum and wing cases are orange.

A small black rove beetle with studded holes on both the short elytra and thorax area.
Able to adapt to a wide range of environmental conditions and might be found in all kinds of decaying matter, waterside mud and leaf litter.
